Gaining experience

Well, I wonder how people do it. Break into real live networking, I mean. I have a wealth of knowledge in my head from teaching and working in labs, but very little practical experience on a live network. I know how things “should” work. My troubleshooting experience has been with servers and I feel that I do that well. But that doesn’t get me a job in a NOC, for example. I look at my resume and it all is either server hardware troubleshooting or training networking, Linux and storage interconnect. I sure hope someone sees my potential and will allow me to use what I have learned.

It’s raining outside and I guess I’m a little down… :-(

Some time off…

I have decided to take some time off so my wife to gain her sanity back. I decided to hold off the practice labs from Oct 22 07 until Jan 15th 08, but I would occasionally review my notes to try to keep some things fresh. This would allow for reconnect time with my wife and my kids. We would also discuss ways that life can be more balanced, so she wouldn’t feel like she is a single parent.
