About me…

Well… CCIE is a challenge, no doubt about that (a challenge for me at least).
The process of obtaining the CCIE cert will help me see for myself that I have the stamina to make it – “the proof is in the poodin’ “. The proof will come when I stand on top and prove to myself that I can do it.

I have been studying for a bit more than a year and a half now for this cert. I passed the Written in April 2006, went to the IE boot-camp in April 2007 and attempted my first Lab in August 2007.

I bought my home lab with funds that I earned giving plasma at my local blood center. After going through this, I decided to have my employer spend about $5k for the IE boot-camp, workbooks and mock labs as well as the test fee for one attempt and travel. I would say that I’ve been lucky in that respect. Now, I am on my own to pay for the stuff that remains.

I have a wonderful family that puts up with my studies – two kids that sometimes don’t get to see Dad for extended periods and a wife that hangs in there as much as she can. Hopefully, I will be done with this process soon, so I can reconnect before life withers away.

I am a networking, Linux and storage interconnect trainer for a well-known computer company. I get to be exclusive in my group as I am the only one who does any networking training at all.

John, you’re working too hard. Take a break now and then from your studying.

    I love you son,
